On board the Pardo GT65: Gōkana in matte black, the detail that becomes identity
Cannes, Vieux Port, September 11. The Pardo GT65 has been in the water for three days, and anyone can step aboard. It is the third model in Cantiere del Pardo's GT crossover range, the 20-meter yacht that completes the series between the GT52 and the GT75, and one of the festival's world premieres. We went aboard too, with Katia Paracchini, to take a closer look at a detail that, on this yacht, was never meant to stand out.
A yacht designed by subtraction
The reverse bow, a stylistic signature recognizable from a distance. Continuous glazing around the entire perimeter, made possible by a reduced number of mullions. The aft windows that merge cockpit and interior into a single space. The GT65 takes the shipyard's philosophy to its most mature expression: a bold style, never decorative, where anything extra is one element too many.
"It's a yacht where design, architecture and proportions speak to each other with remarkable coherence," Katia says in the video. "And it's precisely on a boat like this that even a functional element, like the faucets, becomes an integral part of the yacht's style."
Gōkana, in matte black
For the interiors, the shipyard chose the Gōkana collection in a matte black finish. Gōkana is a Japanese word meaning luxurious, splendid. Our interpretation is a luxury that is essential, refined and quiet: a measured beauty, made of proportion, material, balance and attention to detail. It is the philosophy that inspired the collection, and the same one you find on board the GT65.
Why does it work so well in this setting? "Because its lines are essential, yet very bold," Katia explains. "The matte black underlines its character and creates continuity with the other elements of the space, without ever feeling intrusive. It's a recognizable product, yet perfectly integrated into the yacht's architecture."
Matte black absorbs light instead of reflecting it. On a yacht designed around its glazing, no reflection breaks the visual continuity of the spaces: the detail disappears into the whole, and draws attention back to the materials and to the light coming in.
The detail that becomes identity
Can a small detail contribute to a yacht's identity? On a yacht like the Pardo GT65, nothing is left to chance. For us, that is exactly what it means: creating products that speak the yacht's language and become part of it. "It's one of the most interesting aspects of design," Katia says, "when every element seems to have been conceived from the very beginning to belong to that space."
A result that doesn't come from a catalog. It comes from a conversation that started early with the shipyard and with its interior designer, Marco Gugnoni, with whom we shared every step of the way. That is where the detail becomes part of the yacht's identity.
The Gōkana collection
Gōkana is the most essential expression of the cylindrical form: a continuous, well-proportioned curve, calibrated down to the last detail. The collection includes deck-mounted spouts with remote mixer (2210 and 2230), the 2235 bidet mixer and the 225050 mixer set with spout, also available with diverter and hand shower. Finishes are developed project by project: the matte black of the GT65 is one of them.
